Blessed Coming In, Blessed Going Out

Praise the Lord. What an awesome God we serve that He has given us this word of encouragement in the book of Deuteronomy. It says in Deuteronomy 28, "Blessed shall you be when you come in and blessed shall you be when you go out."  That is ALL the time.

I've recently been thinking on this verse because in life sometimes things can seem to unravel or unwind themselves and lose momentum. Sometimes it seems that there are destructive forces at work in our lives that can trap us or keep us in bondage or rob us of real peace and joy. There are forces at work in our own habits and in our own thinking that cause us to fail, at times. But we know that God's will is victory for the believer. So let's be glad in the midst of all these trials and stir up faith for victory in the midst of trial. A great passage of Scripture that I turn to is Psalm 103. It says, "Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits--Who forgives [every one of] all your iniquities, Who heals [each one of] all your diseases, Who redeems your life from the pit and corruption, Who beautifies, dignifies, and crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercy;Who satisfies your mouth [your necessity and desire at your personal age and situation] with good so that your youth, renewed, is like the eagle's [strong, overcoming, soaring)"

Another translation says that "He redeems your life from destruction". This is awesome. How easy it is to go with the flow and allow life to take its toll on us and to submit to "the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday" - Psalm 91. God's will is not for destruction to overtake us, but blessing!

When the Bible says that we are to be blessed coming in and blessed going out, I think that means that we are to receive an ever increasing flow of the goodness of God coming into our lives. The same chapter mentions that  " all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you if you heed the voice of the Lord your God." Blessings will overtake us as we obey the Lord. We aren't to leave a job because of failure or leave a relationship because of failure - God wants things full, whole and good. It is His plan to Bless us as we come into a job and when we leave it is is because of His blessing. He wants to pour out His favour and His love into our friendships and relationships so that we aren't operating in destruction, but in love and peace and blessing.

Praise God that Jesus has given us an example for living. He said "bless and do not curse". He said, "Forgive and you will be forgiven" and He says "Give and it will be given unto you....Good measure, pressed down, shaken together and RUNNING OVER". That is the abundance of God. That is the overflow of a life of praise and thanks to God.

Let's get ready to walk in the blessing of the Lord and watch Him work on our behalf. When we walk in the LOVE of God, giving of ourselves, we can expect with certainty to have God's blessings OVERTAKE us. God says not to strive for riches or to spend time worrying about how to get possessions or wealth, but to seek FIRST the Kingdom of God (His wisdom, His way of doing things)....and all these things will be added to you. Praise God.
